Wuhan, March 28, 2024 – The U.S. Consulate General in Wuhan held an official opening ceremony for its new facility. U.S. Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China Nicholas Burns presided over the opening ceremony and expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hubei Provincial Government, Hubei Foreign Affairs Office, and municipal authorities in Wuhan for their support for the move. Wuhan Mayor Cheng Yongwen and representatives of Henan, Hubei, Hunan, and Jiangxi provinces took part in the opening.
In its new facility, the U.S. Consulate General in Wuhan will offer expanded in-person services for U.S. citizens, offer nonimmigrant visa interview services, and promote trade, education, and cultural cooperation between the United States and Central China. “The opening of U.S. Consulate General Wuhan’s new facility is a testament to the United States’ commitment to strengthening people-to-people ties with the people of Central China,” Ambassador Burns said.
Since it began offering nonimmigrant visa services in March 2023, the U.S. Consulate General in Wuhan has processed more than 38,000 visa applications not requiring an interview.
