Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI), Chairman of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party, led a delegation that visited Taiwan from February 22-23, 2024 as part of a larger visit to the Indo-Pacific region. Other members of the delegation include Ranking Member Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL), Rep. John Moolenaar (R-MI), Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-SD), and Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA). While in Taiwan, the delegation met with President Tsai Ing-wen, Vice President William Lai, National Security Council Secretary General Wellington Koo, Foreign Minister Joseph Wu, members of civil society, and private sector representatives. In all of these meetings, the delegation had an opportunity to exchange views with Taiwan counterparts on a wide range of issues of importance to both the United States and Taiwan.
