On February 20, Ambassador Kenji Kanasugi went to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment to visit Minister Huang Runqiu and held an arrival meeting. Minister Huang Runqiu expressed welcome to Ambassador Jinshan for taking up his new post in China and his visit to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment. Minister Huang expressed his gratitude to Japan, including the China-Japan Environmental Protection Center, for its cooperation so far and introduced China’s work in the field of ecological environment.
Ambassador Kanasugi said that last November, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and President Xi Jinping reaffirmed environmental protection, energy conservation and other green economies as areas of cooperation during the Japan-China Summit in San Francisco, USA, and looked forward to deepening future Japan-China environmental cooperation on this basis. Ambassador Kanasugi and Minister Huang also exchanged views on future Japan-China environmental cooperation. Minister Huang talked about ALPS water treatment during the meeting. Ambassador Kanasugi explained Japan’s position and emphasized that based on the consensus reached by the leaders of Japan and China, through consultations involving experts, The importance of addressing this issue appropriately, including frank and constructive discussions from a scientific perspective.
Ambassador Kanasugi and Minister Huang agreed to continue to cooperate closely in the future to further develop Japan-China environmental cooperation, including the implementation of two-way youth exchanges between Japan and China in this field.

金杉宪治大使会见生态环境部部长黄润秋(2024年2月20日)
2月20日，金杉宪治大使前往生态环境部拜访黄润秋部长并举行了到任拜会。黄润秋部长对金杉大使来华履新以及此次访问生态环境部表示欢迎。黄部长对包括中日环境保护中心在内的日方迄今所给予的合作表示感谢并介绍了中国在生态环境领域方面的工作情况。
金杉大使表示，去年11月岸田文雄首相和习近平主席在美国旧金山与举行日中首脑会谈中再次确认环保、节能等绿色经济为合作领域，期待以此为基础深化今后的日中环境合作。金杉大使与黄部长还就今后日中环境合作方式交换了意见，黄部长在会谈中谈及到ALPS处理水，金杉大使说明了日方立场，并强调应基于日中首脑共识，通过包括专家之间从科学角度出发开展坦率且具有建设性的讨论在内的方式妥善加以应对的重要性。
金杉大使与黄部长一致同意为进一步发展日中环境合作，包括落实日中在该领域的双向青年交流在内，今后也将继续紧密合作。
